Kent Floral

Even after 100 years of operation, things at Kent Floral are still fresh as a daisy.

Since 1906, Kent and Auburn locals have frequented Kent Floral for local, fresh-cut flowers and a never-ending supply of wedding, funeral, and prom arrangements. Now serving their fourth generation, Kent Floral is a testament to longevity, outlasting another six Kent-area florists that closed their doors in the last couple years.

And while centagenarians aren't typically known for their fresh ideas and innovation, Kent Floral capped their centennial celebration in 2006 with a Business Leadership Excellence Award from the Kent Chamber of Commerce, lauding their 'innovative ideas and technologies to deliver a better product or service to its customers.'

Chalk it up to owners Wayne Queen and Lora Cree who became the latest Kent Floral proprietors in 2002. Their business approach blends award-winning artistry, first-name familiarity with customers, and attention to the new technologies that will keep their business open another century.

The company is now one of the area's largest private floral firms, known foremost for Lora's celebrated creative arrangements and their staff's attention to detail-a clear differentiation from the Internet and 1-800 based florists.

Starting their second century, the company recently moved into new retail frontage on Central Avenue. The new location offers a huge increase in exposure-over 37,000 commuters pass by their attention-grabbing electronic sign each day-and has given Wayne and Lora an opportunity to upgrade their customer experience.

Their new store features over 5,000 square feet dedicated to the retail space, with an additional 5,000 square feet for parking-a luxury their former location did not offer. The new space also includes several computer workstations where customers can preview arrangements and place their orders. Future plans even include a drive-through espresso window.

Supporting Kent Floral into the 21st century, Integra Telecom is pleased to serve Kent Floral in their new location with local and toll-free telephone service, plus critical high-speed internet access. The new telecom infrastructure supports Kent Floral's budding inbound telefloral business, and connects them to over 20,000 florists worldwide over FTD's network.

"Working with Integra made a lot of sense. We always like doing business with local, friendly people. They were very cost-effective compared to our previous carriers, which allowed us to upgrade our Internet service. And since communications outages cost us thousands in sales, we've been thrilled with Integra's service reliability."
